Lisan Aldin ibn Alkhatib wrote this poem to pass down his wisdom to his son. He told him to memories it and live by it.

إذا ذَهَبت يمينك لا تضيِّع
زمانك في البُكاء على المُصيبة

ويُسراكَ اغتنم فالقوسُ ترمي
ولا تدري أرَشْقُتها قريبة

وما بغريبة نوَبُ الليالي
ولكن النَّجاة هي الغريبة
